Here's a link to entries I wrote about Stephen Grant and the murder of his wife, Tara.
Today, his father committed suicide.
Detroit Free Press Article
Fathers' Day is this coming Sunday. I guess the man couldn't face what his son has done. Sucks to be the father of the biggest asshole in Michigan!
The man shot himself in the head, and didn't die, just like Jim. There are nearly three hours between the time he called 911 to report his own suicide, and what's listed as time of death.
Of course, there was a delay in Jim's case because it was the middle of the night, and they had to round up the county ME or whatever official has to come in and say, "Yup, he's dead."
Stephen Grant has a lot to answer for.
Many thanks to Jules for the heads-up.
Ronni,
ReplyDeleteI just re-read all your Stephen Grant posts. I have to say: I work as a domestic violence advocate, and I am continually impressed by you. You see the nuances in speech just about better than anyone else. From your April 15 post:
"SHE was knocked for a loop." As if Tara did these things on purpose, just to further annoy her killer.
As a society, we seldom question like that. Just wanted to say that I admire your wry observations, and often find myself learning something.
Thanks.
Wow! Thanks, Nan!
ReplyDeleteStephen Grant seemed to be one of the more transparently manipulative murdering husbands.
They're getting more sophisticated, though. Like Jason Young, refusing to open his mouth.
I just want to get more women to look at what their prospective partner is actually doing, and listen to his actual words.
Oh, I couldn't have said it any better, Ronni. Not that I'm eloquent enough, anyway.
ReplyDeleteEverything you write is so interesting and almost tangible.
You rock, my friend!
Morning, Mgt...happy Fathers' Day!
ReplyDeleteHi Ronni,
ReplyDeleteI think what you are able to do is look for the back story, which sadly, many people don't. And very few judges do. I wish your wisdom were widspread.
I work with women who are luckily still alive. But I still hear them say things like "I hit my head" I wish more advocates, lawyers, and judges would ask HOW she hit her head. Subtle language still ends up to be the enemy of abused women everywhere.
We have a great Batterer's Intervention Program (BIP) here, and it is often touted that these guys rarely are in trouble again. Other viewpoints are that these guys simply learn well from each other how to be more clever.
Sigh. Thanks for your thoughts. And I loved the book ERASED. Thanks for that tip.
