Geragos Strikes Again

Baby Killer Gets Probation

Mark Geragos, the lawyer who unsuccessfully defended Winona Ryder and Scott Peterson, and dropped out of the Michael Jackson defense team to defend the latter, also defended this bitch, with much more success. Oh, and let's not forget Cameron Brown, charged with the murder of his four-year-old daughter. Geragos got that one to a hung jury. Retrial supposed to be this summer.

Ole Markie Gera-goes-the-money really knows how to pick them, doesn't he?

This woman gave birth prematurely to a live infant, and threw it in a dumpster and has got off with five years probation and time served.

I *might* have let her off with that, if she would agree to be spayed during the period of her probation.*****

With all the people in the world who would give their right arms to have a baby, to send a message that it's (almost) OK to have one and THROW IT AWAY just makes me want to spew chunks!

Geragos will defend anyone. He must have some sort of bet going with the devil.

He gives a whole new meaning to the term, "Devil's Advocate!"

*****Edited to add: on further perusal, I now remember this case more clearly. This woman is a serial killer. This was not the first baby she bore. Earlier, she had entered a hospital, bleeding, and it was determined that she had recently given birth. She claimed the baby was stillborn and that she had buried it (I think). There was no investigation, and no charges. Did Geragos manage to keep this information out of the trial? I suppose he must have, as THIS WOMAN IS A SERIAL KILLER!

  1. I understand your being pissed. But to PLAY devil's advocate for a moment.. HE didnt murder anyone. HE didnt steal.

He just does his job, and if I were accused of a crime I sure as hell wouldnt want a public defender on my side. I would want a lawyer like him.

Even with him, as a defense attorney most of his clients are found guilty of SOMETHING.

  2. No, he didn't. He just defends the scum of the earth.

    I know some nice lawyers.

    He is not one.

  3. I agree, but the prosecutors were aiming way too high with the charges they brought(in this case). They couldnt prove that she murdered the baby. If they had gone for manslaughter she would probably be behind bars way before Gergaros was even brought on the scene.

His job is to defend the scum of the earth. For every prosectutor there must be a defesne attorney. If the defense attorney sucks ass, then the defendant will usually get off completely sooner or later. No charges dogging them forever.

I am pissed too, believe me. But its not because she had a good attorney, its because #1, I think she is responsible, and #2 I think the prosecution is at fault for her getting off. When the murder charge was dropped the first time I think they should have considered manslaughter because the case was too shaky, but it took a life of its own and they wanted the BIG prosecution. They didnt have the proof.

Basically all he did was say, ok, prove she meant to do it. They couldnt do that. So really its their fault that she got off so easy. They knew the risks.

  4. First, I don't consider Geragos a "good" lawyer. What he did to Winona Ryder was criminal, itself. His defense of Peterson was almost bad enough to warrant an appeal. This case is one of his more successful. Granted, the only one I've followed in detail was Peterson.

Agreed that, in our adversarial justice system, somebody has to defend scumbags. However, he does get to pick and choose, and he seems to go for the pond scum.

Frankly, I'm surprised and the lack of imagination in this case. Where are the homeless drifters, the brown van? Couldn't he find somebody to steal her baby (I wish she had)!

This whole case makes me want to puke.

I agree the girl is the worst of it. Good lord! She threw the baby in a dumpster, alive! She should be sentenced to confess to 30 people who would love to have a baby.

  5. I fear for the future of humans. Compassion does not exist anymore. Humans are being de-sensitised. I don't know how it's happening but it is. Violence has become acceptable, even a form of entertainment. It makes me shudder.

May I just add, Ronni. I love the new picture on your profile. Wow!

  6. LOL! The new pic is a costume shot from "The Oldest Profession." I probably will change it out soon, but, for now, it's how I'm feeling.

  10. He first came to my attention during the Winona Ryder trial. That poor girl was all sorts of effed up on painkillers and other pharmaseutical goodies and he didn't plead her out. Instead, he whored himself to the media at her expense.

Not even gonna go down Peterson Road. That was a total joke. Ditto, Cameron Brown.

I remember this case, as well. This young woman is despicable. This is another case you plead out and hope for the best, but no, not him. And yes, the DA's office shot too high, as well.

He defends baby killers in a most high profile way. Repeatedly. There are certain things he could tell a client, like some things, you just plead and go quietly into the night.

    Ass hole.

LOVE that fierce pic, Ronni! GrrrrLs rule.
