The Palace

Today was interesting at the Palace. There was no rehearsal per se, but there were sound checks going on, and the leads were in for some scene work. For a while, there were several people wandering the stage, singing different songs and practicing pirouettes, while the sound techs tested circuits, drills and sanders screeched and sewing machines hummed. The smell of sawdust and burlap filled the air, and everything was punctuated by the sound of a staple gun.

I love theater. The whole process, from audition to closing night. I love the blocking rehearsals, the costume fittings, the director's, "Stop. Do it again."

It's exciting...it's stimulating...it's theater.

  1. And, it's so you, Ronni. Bright as a button!

I so look forward to reading here each day. There is always something of interest, because you make it so.

With thanks, from a loyal groupie.

Mary Ellen is another person who wants me to write a book.

  3. Now, there's a fantastic idea.

BTW, are you going to be displaying any more pictures from Round Rock. I love seeing your part of the world....so different to this dull, grey place.

And, you are welcome. You are a truly fabulous person, Ronni.

  4. Actually, now that the days are getting longer, and warmer, and I don't have a play sucking up all my evenings, I may just get out and about with my new Canon and take some pictures.

I need to go back to the Austin Bergstrom Airport, because there were a few shots I wanted on the way home from there. There's a body shop (auto repair) that has a car embedded in the second storey of its cinder-block building, and a tiny cemetery at the junction of two major roads.

  5. That's the stuff I'm talking about. How strange!

  6. In Austin, there are bumper stickers available that read: "Keep Austin Weird." In Round Rock there are some that read, "Keep Round Rock Mildly Interesting."

    That's the way it goes.
