Scary Stuff

From Salon.com

From the article:

There are signs that Blackwater USA, the private security firm that came under intense scrutiny after its employees killed 17 civilians in Iraq in September, is positioning itself for direct involvement in U.S. border security. The company is poised to construct a major new training facility in California, just eight miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. While contracts for U.S. war efforts overseas may no longer be a growth industry for the company, Blackwater executives have lobbied the U.S. government since at least 2005 to help train and even deploy manpower for patrolling America's borders.

Do we really want the same people currently in trouble over their practices in Iraq patrolling our borders?

  1. Is Backwater connected to Bush and his cronies? Sounds like it.

I don't understand why there is even a border patrol. You have a massive, wealthy country. Those poor Mexicans have nothing and are prepared to do all the jobs that the rest of us scoff at.

Let them in, I say. Suppose I better duck!

  2. Oh, but Mgt! Our Prez, through legislation passed in the recent past, had decided that hordes of Al Qaida are sneaking across with the Latinos, and must be stopped at all cost.

It's a mess, and the O'Reilly watchers get a snnotful, every day, of criminal immigrants, etc.

Blackwater is a private security firm that is in deep doo doo in Iraq for shooting citizens. I am sure they have deep connections to Bush and his cronies.

  3. Our country is going to Hell in Bush's handbasket. Between his incompetence and Cheney nodding off at any given moment, it's beyond the point of no return. It's downright embarrassing.

  4. Do they pay our border agents anywhere near what they will pay Blackwater? If Iraq is any indication the answer is NO!

The citizens of SD are protesting this new training ground. I don't think it's a done deal.

  5. That's good to hear, CG.

We're working on the detention camps here. I hope San Diego does better than we are.

  6. That area was part of the Harris fire near San Diego, BTW.

  7. Other than our armed forces, you can bank anyone doing business in Iraq is firmly in the Cheney/Bush camp. Yes, I typed Cheney first.

I have always been a moderate and vote for the person running, not the party. After what I've seen happen in the last 7 years, there is no way I will vote Republican in the next election.

Time for a BIG CHANGE, sweep these neocon, greedy, narrow minded, self indulgent old guard out.

  8. I think we have to bring in some Democrats, but I'm also afraid that the rot has set in on both sides of the aisle.

I think we need to get rid of every incumbent, of either party, and try not to elect people with corporate ties.

  9. Ronni, last election I voted against the incumbents, good or bad. Voted them all out. In my state didn't make a difference.

I do agree about corporate pockets and politicians. It's always been around and I'm for capitalism, but we are letting the fat cats run the country. When the news says "the war on the middle class", they are telling the truth.
