Memorial
Guess what? Fire Berry brought our wedding pics!
We got through it. It was really very nice.
There were over 100 people there! Several people spoke, some of them reading the posts I put up here from Jim's former students. Some had stories to tell that I had never heard. Dan Sullivan sang, and most of the rest of two hours was filled with people telling stories about Jim. I think even he would have liked it.
Rob Morris was the absolute kicker. They saved him for last, and he went on for about half an hour, completely extemporaneous, except when reading Brandon's Facebook post. He tossed Jolly Ranchers to people in the front, just the way Jim used to.
It was AWESOME, Robbie!
Everyone was wonderful, and I really appreciate everyone who was so supportive, both at home and on the net.
Brendan did come, and also had some good news for me--he is cast as the doctor in "Ordinary People," The bad news is that he has to take Physics.
Good night, friends.
Thanks.

dearest ronni,
ReplyDeletei'm so happy that the memorial
went so well and that brendan
was able to make it.
it sounds like you and jim have many wonderful friends.
i hope that you relax tomorrow.
Was there with you in spirit, Ronni. Glad to hear the memorial went well.
ReplyDeleteand congratulations to Brendan for his new role. May it go well too.
Sleep well, dear Ronni.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got through it and that it went so well. Bless you.
ReplyDeleteThe picture is beautiful, Ronni. It shows how much you love each other....very moving.
ReplyDeleteGreat news for Brendan. This is exactly what he needs, something positive to focus on.
I only fell asleep at about 2:30 a.m. this morning. Couldn't get you out of my mind. I was feeling very anxious and torturing myself over some of the things I have said here on your blog. I don't come across as well as I intend to.
You must have felt like telling me to "move on" many a time. Sorry for that.
I'm so relieved that things went well at Jim's memorial. I'm sure he is resting in peace, now.
Well done for holding it all together.
Good morning, Ronni. I hope it's a beautiful day in Round Rock because you have made a fitting and honorable tribute to Jim with the memorial. I'm so pleased for you that it went so well and that Brendan went ahead and did the right thing. I'm sure he won't ever regret it and it shows he's becoming a man, not a boy. Ronni, that picture of you two almost takes my breath away it's so full of passion. How wonderful that you had true love in your life. Not all are so fortunate. It's obvious that Jim made an enduring impression upon many others and that legacy, like your love for him (and his for you) will last beyond both of your lives. May you go ON living for many many years and honor that power which is yours to cherish and to pass on.
ReplyDeleteMgt, you are one of my dearest Misfit friends! You, like Loretta and Moi, speak your mind, and damn the torpedos.
ReplyDeleteYou're aces with me.
Thanks to all of you for your continued support and encouragement.
I went the whole hog and clicked on the picture to enlarge it. Your are absolutely stunning in that picture, Ronni.
ReplyDeleteThat look on Jim's face cannot be faked...absolute adoration.
Hope Brendan is feeling better today. Hearing all the wonderful tributes to Jim will hopefully quieten his anger. Are you able to share how you are feeling today? I know it is a bit soon to expect too much.
Oh my! I've just seen your post. That means so much to me, Ronni. Thank you. I feel the same about you.
I am so glad to hear things went well last night. I was very sad that I didn't make it. I would have loved to hear what Rob had to say. He is wonderful. Great choice for last my dear. I hope things start to look up.
ReplyDeleteWill look in on you tomorrow, Ronni. I hope you have a peaceful night.
