I keep trying to pat myself on the back for managing another year of this blog. I missed the first Anniversary, last year, by two days. This year I have missed it by three. I only remember that I started it around the middle of August, and don't pay attention to the exact date.
That first day, I put up several photographs. I still wasn't sure what I wanted to write about; I just knew I needed to keep my hands busy.
You see, I wanted to quit smoking. I had decided to quit after I finished that last carton of cigs. I bought the first stage of patches, and several pounds of hard candy. I have friends who are very talented writers, and reading and commenting on their blogs encouraged me to think I had something worth putting out into the internet.
Thanks, Loretta and Lisa, for your encouragement!
(Of course, I was afraid to tell them for quite a while.)
I've always been known to run at the mouth, but the keyboard was quite another matter.
A lot can change in two years. Or, two years and three days, if you want to get really picky.
I now have several blogs, though the others don't get the attention this one does. I am an occasional guest blogger for Jones Alley Magazine. I write a bit at Helium.com, and have had several stories published at Elderstorytelling.
In short, I've turned into a writing fool!
And...I haven't had a cigarette since August 29th of 2005.
Well done to you on the non-smoking, Ronni.
