From Tracie...

Oh No! I just heard Lady Bird Johnson died. This is very sad. I grew up with her, if you know what I mean. I was born and raised in Texas. The first president I have any memory of is Kennedy, and I remember VP Johnson taking the oath of office, as well as his presidency. And of course she has been such a driving force in the "back to native plantings" in Texas for such a very long time.

Here is a picture of my sister Pamela Chamberlain with the portrait she painted of her that was accepted by the Lady Bird Johnson wildflower center as a gift, which is rare for them to do, believe it or not. I took her picture in my front yard the day she delivered the painting to them.

I think this is a very cool picture of Lady Bird. Pamela has said some very profound things about her in this picture. Lady bird's spirit is in the very air of Texas, and her hands were in the earth. And, from those hands came great beauty.

Thank you for sending me this, Tracie!

  1. Tracie and her sister are both very talented.

This portrait blew me away, too.
