Oh, bless her heart! Did the floor open up and swallow her?
Bet that's what she was wishing for...
We needed something cheerful, Ronni. The Cutts case generates too many negative feelings. I loved your story!
Again, I saw all the scenes in my head. Now, that's a story.
I'm reading Enid Blighton's Enchanted Wood to my grandson and he is loving it. He wanted to read a few chapters by himself. Yay! Get them started early, I say.
I used to like Enid Blyton's Adventure series, but can't find them at all now. Maybe they were politically incorrect, or something..."Circus of Adventure," "Island of Adventure..." There were four kids, a dog and a cockatiel.
I liked Noddy, when I was very small, but read one of them after I was grown and asid, "Ye gods, that's boring!"
Forgot to mention that I got "Bridge to Terebithia" for Aidan's birthday. 9 is plenty old enough to read a book like that. When I was 9, I devoured "Everyday Life in Roman Britain." Wish I had that one again, too.
Thanks for the correction...I thought "Blighton" looked a bit strange! LOL
I used to read the Stories at Bedtime/Tea time whatever they were called. Huh, it was about 40 sumtin years age. Come to think of it, my parents got plenty of peace and quiet.
I was an avid reader, but, you are WAY ahead of me with that Roman, thing! Boy, are you a smart alec or what?
BTW, I got the book(hard cover) from The Book Depository. It cost £3.15 with no postage charge. Will do one a week, I think.
Apparently, I showed an early and avid interest in Roman ruins in England, and the book was recommended to my parents by the curator of one site. It was fascinating!
Just had a read of that one Ronnie, had a good chuckle.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was pretty funny at the time!

Sorry, I'm waffling again.
Oh, I'm starting my leave on Monday, Ronni. BTW, thank you for your warm words of welcome, yesterday. Such grace!
ReplyDeleteYes, Possum, I'm watching Wimbledon. The final week is my best. The family can have me from July 11th for beach visits and shopping sprees.
Will miss you all...

ReplyDeleteI love watching the Time Team. Some of the things they uncover are really interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe way people lived, building alcoves with shelves out of rocks. Suppose we really needed the Romans over here to civilise us.
I shudder to think how little the Scots would have progressed. LOL
You must read Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series. Must be read in order, and you will be grateful there are so many of them.
