Blue Moon Calendar for 2007 The moon is actually full today, which makes it a Blue Moon, or the second full moon in this month.
It looked full last night, Chandra's birthday.
The moon was just as full the night she was born, one of the reasons her name is Chandra. The name means "eminent or illustrious, because the moon outshines the stars." As she is a Cancer, with the Moon as her ruling planet, and said moon was almost full at her birth, the name seemed appropriate.
Years later, she met another girl called Chandra. The other girl said, "Your parents were hippies, right?" and she just nodded.
She was eight days old when she got the name, as SSS and I could not agree on one. By the seventh day, I had to be almost forcibly restrained from calling the poor child "Galadriel." I was getting very frustrated.
The name had to be pretty. It had to have a good meaning. It had to have no Christian connotation. And, of course, it had to go with her pre-chosen middle name. Oh, and the most difficult; her dad and I both had to like it.
Looking at it that way, she is lucky she ever got a name.
The day of her birth will always be a cherished memory for me. She was born at home, with midwives in attendance, and it was an easy birth, in spite of the 8 lb baby. She was born in the twilight, after a labour that more resembled a party, and welcomed with a lot of love.
Happy Birthday Chandra!
