The Cemetery Commission does its best, but a lot of these old graves and stones are crumbling and falling. There are only a few of these above-ground structures, but they are all collapsing. The one with the roof caving in was pretty solid 25 years ago.
I remember suggesting maintenance of the cemetery as a Girl Scout community service project, years ago, but nothing ever came of it.
I don't, usually. I always used to spend Halloween, from about 11:00 PM til 12:30 or 1:00 AM in this one.
ReplyDeleteI just can't go into the slave cemetery.
When I showed up in a car, with headlights, was when I found out that I wasn't supposed to be there. All the years with the bike, they had just never seen me!
