The First First United Methodist Church

Or, at least, the one that was in use in 1977, when we first moved to Round Rock and lived just around the corner. A few years later, they sold the church, and bought land near the intersection of North Mays and Hwy 79. I'll show you what they built there.

Meanwhile, I think this building was home to another denomination for a while, but couldn't swear to it. It now houses an adult day care, a thrift shop, and, until recently, Head Start.

Head Start closed for the summer. I had never known Head Start to close for the summer before, so I asked around a bit, and was told that it was not going to reopen.

That's right, folks. President George W "No Child Left Behind" Bush has cut the funding for one of the most successful child intervention programs this country has ever known.

I am incensed.

  1. Well, what do you expect from Dubbya? LOL. He's such a contradictory person, isn't he? Glad some of you Texans feel the same way and don't always support his actions...
