Well, aside from a few minor disasters like a child's name being left off the program and a stopped up toilet, opening night went very well. There were quite a few empty seats in the house, in spite of its having been sold out. I really do wish people would let us know when they can't make it; then we can release their seats.
But the show went well.
There's something I like about the inevitability of a live performance. You're standing in the wings, and somebody says "Go!" and the lights come up and you go on. You say your line, and the others say theirs, and, line by line, the thing marches to its conclusion. I was sitting in the annex, listening over the speakers. At one point I was asking, "Why is it quiet? Why is nothing happening?" with rising panic. Then, I realized: it was OK. It was supposed to be a quiet moment.
The running time was the same as for the Final Dress, so that means they have got their rhythm.
O Happy Day!
I'm glad to hear everything went well. You put so much work into what you do.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder it always comes together! You're a natural.
Maybe it helps that I don't take for granted that it will!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pictures and your thoughts with all of us. Looks like it was a great show. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteIt has 4 performances to run. Thursday, Friday, and twice on Saturday! All I can say is, so far, so good!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations again....looks like your hard work and expertise really paid off :)
ReplyDeleteAs long as they're all having fun. That's the main thing. If they're having fun, the audience is having fun. It just follows.
