The Funeral is Over

I figured out why Henry's funeral was at 10:00 AM.

University of Texas plays Tech at 2:30. That gives them time to have the funeral and the graveside ceremony, and still get home in time for the game. Henry wouldn't have missed this game--both teams undefeated, and him a Longhorn fan, and all. So I'm sure it's a sort of Henry Toungate Memorial Football Party.

The funeral was nice. One of Henry's nephews spoke, and a group of older men with a guitar sang "Nearer, My God, to Thee," and "How Great Thou Art." The preacher gave the best rendition of The 23rd Psalm I've heard in a long time.

Aidan was very well-behaved. Chandra looked very nice, and appropriate. She's my former "goth," you know, and one can never tell. After all, she could have showed up wearing a red can-can dress, with pentangles all over her! (KIDDING!) Addy would have been proud of me, handing out pocket packs of tissues to whoever needed one.

And, where were you, Vanessa? Sleep in?

  1. Part of the reason I am no longer married to the last ex? He used to plan our week-ends around NCAA football. Oh and when we split? We had season tickets to Michigan State and their disposition was included in our long divorce.

  2. Several generations of UT Longhorn Football fans in the family.

So y'all fought over who got custody of the tickets? Yeah. Gotta love it!
