A Whole Week!!

Yup! You guessed it! Another Nice Cup of Tea!

I had to work today. I had somehow expected to have the day off. Silly of me, wasn't it? The boss left at noon. I would have been angry at that, but his girlfriend broke her leg last week, and is still in the hospital. That's where he was going. I can forgive that--as opposed to fishing, etc.

When I got home, Husband decided it was time to clean out the popcorn machine. This is a big, commercial machine; the kind that fills up a Plexiglas box, approximately 3'x2'x18" with fresh, heat-popped corn. The Theater Department is having a "movie night" as a fund-raiser, so popcorn is a necessity. The machine had been in storage for several years, and looked like it had been rode hard and put up wet. Of course, he severely damaged his back in the process of carrying the behemoth to the kitchen. So, he's whingeing (that's how I know it's bad--he has never whinged before), and I very soon realize that the grunge level of this machine is way beyond the powers of any cleaner I have in the house. So, I drove back to work to steal (yeah, Nick--I'll settle up tomorrow!) some of the best degreaser money can buy. That and a razor blade got the popcorn machine clean enough to (maybe) pass the health department!

We made fajitas for dinner. Jim made the pico de gallo, and I cooked the meat. It's quick, easy, and always a hit with the entire family. In the middle of cooking it, we found out that we had to attend a strategy meeting. The theater is being recognized at a City Council meeting on Thursday, for having been around for 25 continuous seasons. Of course, they want to cut our funding by 1/3. We feel that it's time we drew their attention to the fact that we provide some very valuable services to the community, such as providing scholarships, and keeping some high school kids so busy they don't have time to get in trouble. Not to mention whipping a little culture on the whole county. We're the only theater in the county that does Shakespeare!

After 25 years, it seems very strange to go before the City Council to justify our existence, but, so it goes.

Ah, to hell with a Nice Cup of Tea. I'm going to have a bloody great mug!

I think perhaps I'd better get those 7 mg. patches for the next week. I'm wanting a cig right now!

  4. Vero, mark each day off the calender in bold highlighter pen,

I just got that tip of my best friend, she is doing the patches at the moment, and she is onto her second lot.

She said since she started to mark it off on the calander, she looks at it and she can visually see , how she is doing, the doctor suggested it to her and she thinks that it is helping her.
